previously i had mentioned that i do tend to disappear from the blogging world. never has it been this long! between working at the lodge and my vintage online shop, i have barely had time to come up for air. today is nice as i do have that time!

Oh yeah- I definitely tend to disappear from the blogging world sometimes. I have a good reason this time though! Im pulling double duty these days. My vintage etsy shop is always number one, however I have also been working at a lodge as their head chef. (2 months only) Fun yes- time consuming- definitely. So we picked up this lovely little bust model. LOVE her! Makes working two jobs so much easier- she does not fuss;). No make-up, hair fixing, pinning required. Just a few looks from our shop on our newbie. What do you think her name should be?

Date Night

Tom and I usually do have a date night. Whether it be on a Friday....Saturday...or any day of the week we try to do something by ourselves. (ollie is included of course) Some of our date nights we just stay in, cook a great huge dinner and dress up as if we were going to be going out. Our dining room rarely gets used so we like to eat there on our special night...just like a restaurant. Tonight, I will be wearing this 1950s silk dress from our shop. Nice look for date night?

This past weekend was the Brown County Fair. Im not a huge fair fan....love the rides and all but the food is wayyy spendy. (and for not a lot!) It seems that everyone likes to dress up as a cowboy or cowgirl. My campus riding boots...yeah...that was about as country as I was going to get. I definitely stuck out like a sore thumb in my Carnival of Souls mini dress. (which is available at our shop) This weekend is the city lights festival. Not sure how everyone dresses here for that....Im sure I will stick out yet again!

I have been blogging for some while now. Mainly about my love for vintage and other random things. I thought I would introduce myself and give my dear loving readers a little insight to who "Zach" is.

1-I am not the one in the Twins hat....or with the beard. (on a good day;)) I, Zach am the 'never done before' cat for halloween.

2-I went to school not for fashion, but for cooking. Le Cordon Bleu in Paris was my first stop. Then on I went to Australia for more much needed cooking lessons.

3-The hilarious hottie in the Twins hat is my boyfriend Tom. I have mentioned him a few times. The previous posted rose lace wedding dress? Yeah...that is to wear with him.

4-I love tattoos. I have a small horseshoe that I got at the mature age of 17. (when life long decisions should be decided) My bf has the classic retro tats....pin up girls....skulls and roses. The one tattoo that sealed the deal for me was the heart tattoo that says 'mom + dad'. Who wouldnt love that?!

5-I started loving and obsessing over vintage in high school. I hated seeing people wearing the same clothes from the same shop....everyday! Im more of a 'march to your own beat' kind of gal with fashion.

6-I have a black lab named Oliver. He just turned one year old and yes....I celebrated his birthday. He is the apple of my eye!

7-I love wearing dresses. I have a dear friend that told me one night when we were going out "I love how you always wear dresses". Why not do it up?!

8-I wear make-up about 3 times a week......at best. I just hate putting it on.

9-I love my family with all of my heart. They are my favorite people in the whole world. The funniest too.....

10-I live for traveling. Moving around and meeting new people gets me excited! For now....I will be 'traveling' through the internet to meet all of you!

Neutral or Bold?

In my little world of vintage fashion I have two ways of looking at things....neutral or bold. I see a very neutral color such as this mini scooter dress and think "I want to dress this baby up with some color!" A vintage silk bouquet scarf....a belt....just something to make it my own. Are you more drawn towards bold colors or neutral? As you can see at nodtomod vintage....color always wins!

Ovbiously I LOVE vintage. Its one of a kind and really.....a treasure. There is a little vintage shop on etsy called Lola Vintage. I dont know what it is about the nautical sailor look but I LOVE it! I have always been a fan of a cute striped boat neck top and well fitted shorts. Busy in NC

I am wayy excited about this! In the third grade, my parents moved us from Miami Beach FL to Asheville NC. Talk about a huge change. Not only the climate...but the people were actually nice in North Carolina! Go figure, I know! Needless to say, all of my closest friends live there still. In two weeks Im going to visit them. Its been about 5 years since I have seen them last and things are pretty much the same between us. Another plus to this trip? The thrift stores are amazing! Little hole in the wall places that have yet to be conquered by the masses. I cant wait to browse the racks! From coats to mini dresses....skirts to peep blouses....vintage pumps to glorious bags. Too exciting! Of course once Im back I will be showing them off....wouldnt you?! What is your favorite place to thrift?

I am totally in LOVE with these bathing suits! They are sooo far from the norm of what girls wear today. They arent mini string bikinis....(im guilty too). They do leave more to the imagination. I showed my BF these shots the other day. Lets just say.....they didnt show enough skin for him! He is a guy. I get it. These 1970s suits show every curve......in the sexy way. Vintage Wedding

Alas! Here it is! The wedding dress of my dreams! Happy its mine for the taking! After a long photo shoot for nodtomod vintage, I decided to put a huge HUGE grin on my face. So I put on my wedding dress and danced in front of a mirror. This will be the dress that I wear when I finally marry my adorable bf at a quiet quaint court house. Nothing fancy...just immediate family and SMALL. I have yet to show him the dress.....or the pictures! Do you really think its bad luck for him to see the dress? Of course, he does NOT understand vintage at all. I will show him a vintage garmet that I love and get the 'ah' look from him. Once I put it on and am all accessorized......he LOVES it! I hope this isnt the case with this 20's rose lace dress.....that I will marry him in! Hope you love this dress as much as I do.

I always think just simple torn loose fitted jeans are perfect......why roll? Are you a fan of the 'grease' day tight roll? Harem pants are in...like we didnt know that! I remember wearing a pair of harem pants to a going away party over 3 years ago. I was totally picked on for them as I guess they werent splashed all over the fashion mags yet. I have been on the search for more clothes. We found the nicest lady who let my mother and me search through all of her mothers old clothes. Small or Huge?

I have been thinking lately about weddings. No...Im not getting married anytime soon! A close friend of mine from wayy back in the day just got married. She had a huge lavish wedding and married a boy who we went to grade school with. It was gorgeous and the perfect love story. So from there I started thinking about how I would get married. I personally am a "go to city hall" kind of gal. Of course wear a gorgeous dress...no shocker there. Im want more of a personal feel. Small....not in any way extravagant. I would kill to wear one of these dresses. Zac Posen, Elie Saab, Dior....any girls fantasy.....until now.

I was searching with my mother through a very old 20's wedding trunk. The woman who used to own our house just left all of her belongings here! Why!? Good news though. We found a rose lace dress. Floor length....mermaid fit....sculptural shoulders and a plunging back. TO DIE FOR. A perfect fit and as soon as I put it on.....we both knew this was the one. Just a gorgeous 20's dress in a simple city hall setting. I will post of picture of the dress asap. What is your dream wedding?

I could use some help on this subject...really. I have always been a brunette....well naturally. As I have mentioned before, I go from cherry red...to dark brown....from high lites...to low lites. I recently totally fudged my hair up. I went from super dark brown to red....not a brilliant choice. I have a salon appointment tomorrow and want to try something different. I'm totally loving origami dresses! They are sooo not like a regular haute couture dress. They have so much more detail and wayy more to look at. Pleat details.....carefully pintucked....unbelieveable! The John Galliano green dress is gorgeous. Careful attention to every aspect of the dress totally pays off. The Gucci mini sunflower origami dress is to die for! I wish I owned this. Show stopping for sure. After all..... I love the look of a fab mini. I found an awesome midnight blue origami dress that I had to share. Its up in our etsy store . Check it out...I'm in the origami mood today.:) Do you love the look of these dresses or do you go for a more simple approach?

Bushy or Tweez Queen

Thick eyebrows were huge in the 80s. I remember asking my mother to please pluck my eyebrows or to take me to someone who could. She always ALWAYS said no. I would soon love my bushy eyebrows and come not to love the super tweezed. I know...it all matters on certain face shapes etc. I am now noticing that the eyebrows I once hated are now and have been in style. I dont think they ever go out really! Do you tweez the hell out of your eyebrows.....(not including maintenance) or do you leave the lovely caterpillars alone for their bushiness?

Its quite ovbious and just like any other fashionista....I ADORE.....LOVE Christian Louboutin! Im not sure what I wouldnt do for a pair of these shoes. Probably not turn tricks....but they are total candy for your feet! OMG the spikes on VB's sky high heels...wayyyy glam punk! I love his simple black stilettos too. There is nothing quite like a fabulous pair of black heels that go with everything and make you feel so incredibly sexy. So if someone is looking to minus their closet of a pair of these....Im willing to take! Oh...I would consider killing for the sherbet stilettos;)!

Platform Heels

A long time ago I always thought that platform heels were only for dancers. Well I guess you can call me a dancer now as I'm totally in LOVE with them! I stand shorter at 5'5 and these babies give me the boost and length on my legs that I so desperately need! Sure....some may be too clunky for my taste but the awesome printed platforms would look killer with a skinny pair of blue jeans and a simple white vintage tank. The simple style platforms compliment many a spring/summer dress which normally you would think just to wear flip flops with those garmets. I found an awesome pair while on my usual hunt for vintage frocks. To my dismay they were way too big for me!:( I know someone out there will love them! Can you walk in these heels or do you leave it to the professionals?

Vancouver Street Style

Althougth not too far from us is a pretty cool street style in Vancouver. I do love their easy indie boho-esque look. Nothing like my previous style blog this style is more bohemian and comfy. Practical is the word! Relaxed with a hint of european makes their style one that I love. A white tee with vintage flats, a boho necklace and headband....we all knew it would work...why havent we pulled it off with this sort of ease?! I love the look because it looks as if they arent trying too hard. A fashionista can roll out of bed and throw anything on and have it look fab and easy. Props to you Vancouver!

One of my many idols would have to be Karl Lagerfeld. Who wouldnt love all of his designs for Chanel?! I wouldnt say I was star struck when I saw him emerge from a black town car in Paris but more in awe. The girls next to me acted as if they just saw God! A fashion god would be more like it! The dresses I have picked from the haute couture line are different....amazing.....and jaw dropping. I love wearing things that are out of the ordinary. Making a statement with your clothes is showcasing your personality. These would definitely showcase mine. Are you bold enough to sport the look?

Bohemian and Hippie

I wasnt always a fan of the bohemian hippie-esque sort of look. That is until my senior year in high school. I became a full blown "fippie". I describe myself as a "fippie" because I wore all the clothes......went to all of the jam band shows.....partied all night (normal yes) camped.....traveled....but I drove a brand new BMW with grateful dead stickers all over the back. Fippie aka fake hippie. I have since changed. Not going to all of the shows, not camping as much as I used to but one thing never did change. I still LOVE the look...and the music! Its relaxed. It seems that more and more, bathing suits arent just for lounging on the beach or catching the best bronze tan ever....they are a total fashion statement on their own. Check out these insane anchor .....well are they bikinis or one pieces? I will call them my cut outs. Anchors are always hot when it comes to any kind of beach or boat occasion. I would totally kill for the purple leopard print one piece...serioulsy kill! I also love the Michael Kors polka dot pin up-esque look. Lately...esp since summer is coming up I have been fanagaling with the thought of a pixie cut ....or maybe staying still a bit longer with a french style cut a la Agyness Deyn. I love my longer girly locks but during the sweaty and hot summer season wouldnt it be easier just to wash and go? Not deal with the humid curly action that is my hair!? In Harajuku.....they know how to make a fashion statement! Not sure if I love it or just do not get it. I applaud anyone who goes bold and strong with their clothes...makes the garmet fit to their personality and not the other way around. They have a sort of anime quality about them that does make it loveable. I personally think there is too much going on in one outfit that I would'nt have a clue of where to start! I am sure when they look at our street style they are thinking....why so bland?! I give them full props for wearing what they want...when they want. I will admit....I am one of those girls who is always wanting to change her hairstyle. I dont stick with one regular color...which I guess would be my natural color. (I havent seen that in years!) I go from black....to buxom blonde highlights....from auburn to fire engine red. Lately though, I have been keeping one aspect of my hair the same....my bangs! I had them lite and somewhat feathered....swept aside.....and then a thicker cut bang. I did the thicker cut myself.....looked like I cut them with a broken beer bottle. Once they were fixed.....by a professional....I grew to love them. I have since wanted to grow my bangs out to have a "mary-kate olsen' kind of ...parted down the middle bohemian hair cut. I go both ways and am always changing my mind. One more problem...I have naturally curly hair too.....so I get a gheri curl thing atop my head when I dont straighten my hair. I guess the question I'm asking is......do you LOVE or HATE bangs....and why?

I would say that my favorite part of an outfit and getting dressed up for a Friday night would have to be the shoes! I remember when I was living in Australia, I stayed at a student housing place. The building looked like a spanish haven......red clay shingles, white huge archways and a turquoise door. The rooms however were a little shabbier....not quite shabby chic even. To make my room one of the favorites amongst the girls who I was friends with, I lined the perimeter with all of my shoes. They were sooo colorful and it was a like a big walk in closet....LOVED it! There wasnt any closet space to house my favorite accessories aka my babies, so that was it. Ahhh....to be an ultimate sex icon would be great....yeah....I dont think I would mind! Pin up girls have always intrigued me but since I starting dating my current boyfriend of 3yrs, I really didnt give it anymore thought. He LOVES........ADORES pin up girls. He has tattoos of them on his body....he must love them to make it permanent! I love how different they are from our 'sex' icons of today. These women were insanely gorgeous.....stacked.....curvacious......well put together to put it lightly! You see old hollywood glamour sometimes on the red carpet but do they really knock it out of the park like the pin ups did? I know back in the 40s 50s it was distasteful to show the amount of skin that these icons did. If I lived then....I would totally, without a doubt have been a pin up! Would you?

Well....I think we already know this but, pastels and animal prints are in like sin this spring. What I love about the Chloe and Zac Posen collection is that they put those looks out there....and properly done! I LOVE that Chloe uses darker earthy tones as well....not all pastels. If you watched the red carpet at the Oscars....Sarah Jessica Parker had it right....barely mint is sooo hot this spring too! Of course it is, its a pastel! Basically what it comes down to is that spring is time for a wide range of colors....mix them with pastels and you are set to rock! Fashion Slump?

I had previously blogged about how I have lately only been wearing a v neck tee and jeans. I did not quite think it was a 'slump' from what I use to wear.....dresses all the time! I found a picture of Debbie Harry in just what I have been wearing....style icon of sorts....yes! Kind of perked me up a bit! My father....who was a fashion photographer always....ALWAYS told me that women look best in just a nice fitted tee and jeans. Very understated and very sexy. I believe its all about the confidence. Pair that simple outfit with a rockin' pair of tall boots....flats or a heavy necklace...simple yet gorgeous!! Not saying that dressing up once in a while...or more so is bad thing at all! One of my closest friends told me she loved how I wore dresses all the time when going out on the town....um....is there any other way when going out at night?! I was hearted by this shop and boy was I glad! I love this shop! judysnow has some of the coolest items around. All hand cut mosaic tiles and handmade childrens toys.......is it possible someone can be this creative!! The tiles, which she hand cuts herself are amazing! Got an old nightstand that needs a boost?
